In the enchanting city of Venice, Italy, a master safe-cracker named John Bridger (portrayed by Donald Sutherland) enjoys a day out, where he surprises his daughter, Stella, with a beautiful necklace. Shortly after, he meets up with his protege, Charlie Croker (played by Mark Wahlberg), to hatch a daring plan: to steal an astounding $35 million worth of gold plates from a group of Italian gangsters.

As part of the team, they convene with their tech wizard, Napster, and the reliable driver, Rob, along with the explosives expert, known as Left Ear, in order to coordinate with their inside man, Steve. They devise a strategic approach, infiltrating a garage situated directly beneath the gangsters’ hideout, where [Steve] gets positioned in the apartment above to carefully place explosives that will bring down the safe. Working deftly, Left Ear and Steve connect the explosives to clear the way, causing the safe to plummet straight into the waiting boat below.

In a thrilling chase through the scenic canals of Venice, the team manages to evade the gangsters after initiating a clever diversion. While they initially appear to be in grave danger, [John] and [Charlie], donning scuba gear, secure the safe from its watery depths just as the local police arrive.

Fast forward to the Alps, the gang celebrates their audacious heist, sharing dreams of their newfound wealth and future aspirations. However, bliss turns to chaos when they are ambushed on a bridge by armed henchmen. Betrayal runs deep as [Steve] turns on his comrades, revealing his duplicitous nature, which culminates in [John’s] tragic demise. Fighting back, Rob crashes the truck into a lake as [Steve] and his men scramble in pursuit.

One year later in Philadelphia, life for [Stella] is complicated. Recently estranged from her father’s world, she now works as a safe technician when [Charlie] seeks her out, holding a dark secret about her father’s killer, [Steve], who has relocated to Los Angeles. Despite her anger towards [Charlie] for [John]‘s death, a sentimental reminder of her father rekindles her resolve, prompting her to join [Charlie] and the rest of the crew on a mission to reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

Arriving in Los Angeles, the gang devises an elaborate scheme to rob [Steve]‘s lair of the stolen gold. Utilizing Stella’s charm, they infiltrate his life under the guise of a technician. The plotting thickens as a romantic dalliance leads to unexpected complications, paving the way for a gripping face-off. Things escalate when [Stella] inadvertently reveals her identity to [Steve], escalating tensions that results in a confrontation that pits revenge against greed.

Meanwhile, [Steve] attempts to expedite the laundering process, but not without arousing suspicion and violence, drawing the ire of a Ukrainian crime family. As the pieces of the puzzle fall together, the heist plan morphs into a full-on war for gold, driving [Charlie] and his team to act decisively to reclaim their fortune.

The action peaks as the gang discovers [Steve]‘s plan to transport the gold in armored trucks, prompting a high-stakes chase orchestrated with cunning precision. Utilizing advanced tactics, they manipulate Los Angeles traffic to their advantage and engage in a spectacular underground showdown to seize the gold.

In the thrilling climax, as [Steve] confronts [Charlie], the stakes rise dramatically. With allegiance forged in revenge and camaraderie, the gang holds their ground, resulting in a dramatic confrontation with unexpected allies surfacing just in time. Everything culminates in the triumphant reclaiming of the gold, taking down [Steve] once and for all, and ensuring that justice prevails.

Having finalized their mission and paid tribute to [John], the crew steams full speed ahead on their train to New Orleans, celebrating the victory while cherishing their bond and the memory of their fallen leader. Each member walks away with surprises of their own, as Rob basks in the glory of a new Aston Martin, [Left Ear] tastes the charm of a dream home in Spain, [Lyle] basks in fame, and [Charlie] discovers love anew with [Stella] by his side.
