The Influencer (2024) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

The ending of The Influencer leaves viewers with a tense finale that suggests Madison has survived her ordeal. After confronting CW on the remote island, Madison manages to attack her and escape, leaving CW unconscious on the ground. As Madison boards her jetboat to leave, we see CW, still alive but smirking at her, indicating that the danger may not be over. The film hints that CW was driven by deep-seated anger and mental instability, targeted women like Madison and Jessica because she resented their fake lives and the way they earned wealth through social media. Her twisted motives seem rooted in a rejection of superficiality and perhaps a darker history that shaped her psychopathy. The ending keeps the audience guessing whether Madison will be rescued or if CW might regain control, as she is shown to still be alive and smiling in her defeated state. It leaves open the possibility that the threat persists, and in the real world, Madison’s fate could still be uncertain, possibly requiring law enforcement to bring CW to justice. The final moments emphasize how the film explores themes of authenticity, the dark side of social media fame, and the dangerous illusions people live behind online personas.
