Tsutomu Yoshioka, a Tokyo office employee, is engaged to Mariko, the president’s niece. When memories of Mitsu, a country girl he loved and abandoned during college, surface, he faces a moral crisis. Former friend Shimako urges him to see Mitsu, secretly planning to photograph the encounter and use it to blackmail him, hoping to ruin his relationship with Mariko.
