Set in mid‑1950s Tangier, still an international zone, the film shows the city on the eve of independence. Aïcha turns to magic to stop her husband from taking a second wife, while a network of women mounts its own resistance. Director Smihi uses montage to depict a society torn by colonialism, religion, patriarchy and nationalist movement.
