In 1960s New York, John Wojtowicz challenged societal expectations with a defiant lifestyle and unconventional relationships. His attempt to rob a bank in 1972, intended to pay for his lover's sex reassignment surgery, became a national sensation broadcast live on television. The ensuing events inspired the acclaimed film Dog Day Afternoon and cemented Wojtowicz's lasting notoriety. This documentary weaves together interviews and archival footage from the 1970s and 2000s, examining the sexual revolution, the gay liberation movement, and Wojtowicz’s controversial impact, all while exploring his complex relationship with his mother.
