The Border Post

Commander Safet Pašić faces a life-altering crisis after discovering he has contracted syphilis from a local prostitute. This shocking revelation sends him into a spiral of anxiety as he struggles to keep this grave secret from his wife, Mirjana.

In a desperate attempt to hide his illness, Pašić instructs his doctor, Siniša, to secretly move his belongings from their home to the military barracks. This calculated move is meant to keep Mirjana in the dark about his condition while he undergoes treatment.

During the secretive relocation, Siniša crosses paths with Mirjana, who expresses her discontent with military life and her husband's absence. Their encounter sparks an unexpected affair, fueled by their individual frustrations and emotional turmoil.

As the military post grapples with internal issues, soldier Ljuba Paunović engages in reckless behavior in hopes of an early discharge. His antics add to the mounting tension within the ranks, further complicating Pašić's already stressful situation.

In honor of former President Josip Broz Tito, Paunović volunteers for an exhausting 300-kilometer march to the House of Flowers in Belgrade. However, his decision is met with skepticism and leads to disciplinary action against Commander Pašić.

The high command holds Pašić accountable for what they perceive as manipulation of the soldiers. This reprimand adds to the burden of his secrets, forcing him to navigate the complexities of military protocol under duress.

In response to the growing tensions, a troop is dispatched to apprehend Pašić. To his shock, Mirjana decides to join this troop, driven by her need to uncover the truth about her husband's increasingly suspicious behavior.

As the border post's sentinels spot oncoming military vehicles, they mistakenly believe it to be an attack from Albania. This misjudgment leads to a sudden eruption of gunfire, plunging the military post into chaos.

In the midst of the gunfire and confusion, Mirjana tragically loses her life. Her death serves as a heart-wrenching consequence of the ongoing tensions and Pašić's secretive actions, leaving a profound impact on those involved.

The chaos escalates as a violent clash breaks out between Paunović and Commander Pašić. This confrontation culminates in Pašić's death, marking a tragic turn of events as personal conflicts culminate in irreversible violence.

The film concludes with Siniša returning home, visibly affected by the traumatic events he has witnessed. His return symbolizes the deep emotional scars left on all characters involved, forever changed by their desperate circumstances.
