It opens Jesper W. Nielsen’s trilogy—Buldermanden, Lykkefanten and Ogginoggen—with Ida and her brother staying with their grandmother in the cottage. She warns them that any misbehaviour will summon the dreaded bogey man. After the brother receives a toy dog, Ida’s jealousy drives her to tempt him into presenting the dog to the feared creature.
