As a group of British retirees sets off on an adventurous journey to Jaipur, India, they are drawn to the allure of the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which promises a new chapter filled with excitement and hope. Among them is Evelyn Greenslade, a widowed housewife who is grappling with the challenge of selling her family home to pay her late husband’s debts. Joining her is Graham Dashwood, a High Court judge who spent his formative years in Jaipur and has decided to return to the vibrant city after retirement. Jean and Douglas Ainslie are on the lookout for an affordable place to retire, having invested significantly in their daughter’s fledgling internet venture, while Muriel Donnelly, a former housekeeper, seeks timely medical care for her hip ailment to avoid the long waiting times back home. Madge Hardcastle, who has seen her share of failed marriages, is on a quest to find love anew, and Norman Cousins, an aging womanizer, aims to reignite his youthful spirit.
