Borrowing John Keats’s poem for its title, the film is a melodrama where director Dulac probes the femme‑fatale archetype through an actress abandoned by a wealthy lover who adopts a revenge‑driven persona aimed at men. Through mise‑en‑scene narration, Dulac reinterprets the Romantic figure, exposing ambiguity in 19th‑century stereotypes.
