The film follows Frau Concha, portrayed as a femme fatale—or a “fille perdue,” a lost girl—who is cold, unscrupulous and toys with men for her own amusement. Such dangerous women are typically welcomed at the grand soirées of the Schloss. Concha shows no mercy, respect or loyalty, and Suzanne Talba gives a striking, uniquely nuanced performance.
