Based on a true story, the film follows a strange case of military justice at the end of World II. Two German deserters held in an Allied POW camp are reported to a German colonel, who orders a court‑martial despite the war’s end. The Allied officers comply, sentencing the men to death and a firing squad on the “fifth day of peace.”
