A Canadian citizen who fears losing his job, Lew looks after his war-orphan niece Tina. He accepts work at a radio repair shop, where he becomes entangled with Nazi operatives after obtaining blueprints for a stolen transmitter. Resourceful and protective, he outsmarts his pursuers, helps recover the transmitter codes, and ultimately becomes a U.S. Army private who earns American citizenship.
