This documentary explores the fascinating history and future of champagne, uncovering legendary connections like Pol Roger’s link to Winston Churchill, Bollinger’s association with James Bond, and Piper-Heidsieck’s iconic partnership with Marilyn Monroe. The film delves into the story of Dom Perignon, often credited with perfecting champagne, and examines the long-standing debate about its origins, including an English claim to its invention. It also highlights the impact of climate change on the region and the search for new vineyards in southern England to ensure champagne’s continued production.
