The 1988 film stars Kamal Haasan as police officer ACP Athi Veerapandiyan. It also features Nirosha (credited as Mythili), Nizhalgal Ravi, Pallavi, Kitti and Krishnamurthy (Kitty) as the villain Mohandas. Noted for two action set‑pieces inspired by The Untouchables and Lethal Weapon, its story is based on Peter Weir’s 1985 drama Witness.
