“'Sociology is a martial art, a means of self‑defence,' says Pierre Bourdieu. Over three years, filmmaker Pierre Carles follows him through a brief dialogue with Günter Grass, a lively meeting in a working‑class suburb, his exchanges with students and colleagues, and his plea that sociology become part of city life. The documentary captures Bourdieu’s accessible, grounded French intellectual perspective on contemporary society.
