A young woman named Nomi Malone begins her journey by hitchhiking from a truck stop, set against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. She ultimately accepts a ride from a shady driver who claims to be heading to Las Vegas, revealing her dream of dancing in the city.

During the car ride, the driver's flirtation makes Nomi uncomfortable, leading her to brandish a switchblade in self-defense. The tense moment escalates, forcing her to put the knife away after a near-collision with another truck.

Upon arriving in Las Vegas, the driver takes Nomi to a casino, promising to help her find a job. However, he deserted her there with only ten dollars, leaving her devastated and suitcase-less after she willingly trusted him.

In her state of despair, Nomi encounters Molly, a seamstress, who rescues her from stepping into traffic. Understanding Nomi's predicament, Molly kindly takes her to her home in a trailer park, providing her with shelter and support.

Two months later, Nomi finds a job as a stripper at Cheetah's Topless Club, operated by the unscrupulous Al Torres. While she sees this as an opportunity to perform, the harsh realities of her new job begin to unfold.

At The Crave Club, Nomi meets James Smith, a bouncer who initially admires her dancing. His critique, however, ignites anger in Nomi, leading to a brawl that lands her in jail until James bails her out the next morning.

While shadowing Molly backstage at the topless show 'Goddess', Nomi meets Cristal Connors, the star of the show. Their fiery introduction comes with Cristal belittling Nomi's work, which sparks a fierce confrontation.

Intrigued by Nomi's reaction during their encounter, Cristal appears drawn to her, despite asserting that Nomi's work is demeaning. The next night, Cristal and her boyfriend visit Cheetah's, complicating Nomi's feelings about her own choices.
