Secret Mission

British Army Major Peter Garnett assembles a team including Captain 'Red' Gowan, Private 'Nobby' Clark, and Raoul de Carnot to gather intelligence on German forces in occupied France during WWII. The team plans to infiltrate German-occupied coastal areas and collect crucial military information. Their mission is risky and essential for the Allied war effort.

Nobby, familiar with the area from his past life, knows Saint Antoine and its surroundings well. He used to run a café with his French wife Lulu there, which helps with their infiltration plans. This knowledge allows the team to navigate the local terrain more effectively.

The team crosses the English Channel in a dinghy, with Sub-Lieutenant Jackson observing their departure. Nobby and Gowan head towards the village, while Raoul and Garnett go to Raoul's ancestral chateau. Their objective is to establish a foothold in the local area for gathering intelligence.

Nobby's wife Lulu welcomes the team in Saint Antoine, providing personal support. They also contact M. Fayolle, a secretly resistant local businessman, and his daughter Estelle, who help facilitate their operations and provide them with special papers crucial for their undercover work.

Gowan and Garnett pose as champagne salesmen, using a letter from Ribbentrop and champagne provided by Nobby. They gain access to German officers, photograph a troop map, and gather vital intelligence while avoiding suspicion. Their cover enables them to collect strategic information under false pretenses.

The team identifies a hidden aerodrome built into a cliffside, a significant German installation. During a patrol, Raoul is discovered and shot while in the woods. His death deeply affects the team, especially Michele, who mourns and realizes the danger of their mission.

Raoul dies without revealing the location of the critical rendezvous point, an ancient tree where he and Michele played as children. Michele is reluctant to help, and the team must find another way to locate the rendezvous to continue their mission.

M. Fayolle and Estelle reveal their Resistance activities, having helped many escape. Reichman learns the team’s true identity, prompting a manhunt. Michele warns the team about increased patrols, adding urgency and danger to their efforts.

The team is captured but manages to escape using a hijacked armored truck, nicknamed the 'Music Box.' They steal Nazi uniforms and head to headquarters, where Garnett manipulates the medical officer to free Captain MacKenzie, raising suspicion among the Germans.

At dawn, the team signals planes carrying paratroopers, who land, overrun the factory, and destroy a key German installation. This coordinated attack is a major victory and a turning point in their mission to sabotage German operations.

The team reunites at the beach to return to England. Michele and Garnett develop a romantic connection, but she chooses to stay and continue with the Resistance. She gives Garnett a cross as a symbol of their farewell before she walks away, confident and resolute.
