Thomas, a school‑leaver surviving on petty crime, repeatedly poses as a tram ticket inspector to swindle fare‑dodgers. He meets Erich, who seems a real inspector but actually won his badge in a card game. Thomas is drawn into Erich’s carpet heist; the robbery succeeds, but Erich has no way to cash the stolen goods, leaving both men in deeper trouble.
