Peter, a young bankrupt homeowner, plans to sell his house and move in with his aunt Agathe in the country. He asks his friend Albert and Albert’s niece Inge to watch the home, but discovers three thieves—Boxer‑Franz, Taschen‑August and Klau‑Maxe—already occupying it. Peter breaks in, is mistaken for a fellow burglar, and the crooks coerce him to pose as the owner while they keep the loot.
