Their young son Samuel, deeply attached to his hamster Raffi, receives the pet from his father. After an expensive veterinary surgery, Raffi is accidentally taken by Rocky, a recently released car thief. Samuel's sister Molly and her boyfriend Jochen become entangled in a web of lies and must help find the hamster, who embarks on unexpected adventures, including a stint in a television studio's hamster show.
