Set during a sun-soaked summer by the Black Sea, the film centers on Theodor Hristea, a renowned surgeon whose personal belongings disappear on the beach. The incident immediately casts suspicion toward a young carpenter known as The Kid, who happens to be nearby the day after the theft. The vacationing circle—Theodor, his girlfriend Cristina, and their mutual friend Ștefan—finds itself pulled into a public drama as the investigation unfolds near the resort town of Mamaia.

The doctor, still convinced of his own moral rightness, closes in on a chance to press one more confession from the supposed culprit, a confession that would finally settle the matter in his own mind—whether or not the theft ever occurred.

The climax arrives on the same stretch of beach where it all began. The doctor seeks to force a confession, and The Kid reacts in a self-protective surge, stabbing the surgeon in the stomach with the tool in his hand. The film then follows a stark, almost balletic escape: both men sprint along the sand—The Kid fleeing to avoid capture, and the wounded doctor pursuing him with a mix of desperation and stubborn belief that the truth can still be laid bare.
