After being wounded in a shoot‑out, rookie Sergeant Lee is reassigned to the oddly named Miscellaneous Affairs Department (MAD). He is teamed with Inspector Wong, a cynical, hard‑drinking veteran who says MAD investigates reports of the supernatural. Wong teaches Lee the department’s core principle—rule number one: there are no ghosts. Every odd occurrence, he argues, has a logical, scientific explanation.
