The Murgatroyd baronets of Ruddigore are cursed: each day they must commit a crime or die. Heir Sir Ruthven flees by posing as the farmhand Robin Oakapple in Rederring, leaving his brother Despard to bear the daily‑murder burden. On the day Robin is to wed Rose Maybud, the curse threatens ruin, and Ruthven must outwit ancestral ghosts to break it.
