In Tromaville High School, a pipe bursts in a janitor's closet, drenching a couple in green slime and releasing a slug. The slime triggers a horrific reaction: the slug castrates the boy and the girl is dissolved. The scene sets the bizarre, toxic tone for the film's events.

Lee Harvey Herzkauf, head of Tromorganic Foodstuffs, teams with Tromaville High School's Principal Westley and the President to poison the students with radioactive tacos. They worry a rogue student blogger might expose their scheme. The plan unfolds behind closed doors at the company's HQ and the school.

During lunch at Tromaville High School, Chrissy Goldberg bullies new girl Lauren, and water is thrown in the ensuing clash. The pair end up in detention after a tense confrontation, while Chrissy's friend Zac tries to ask Lauren out and is rebuffed. The escalating tension foreshadows the hidden alliances forming between them.

Terrence Horowitz eats tainted tacos and begins to violently mutate before onlookers. The mutation worsens until his head explodes, shocking students and staff and revealing the danger of the tainted food plot.

Principal Westley publicly blames Terrence Horowitz's death on marijuana use, attempting to deflect responsibility for the tainted tacos. The claim sparks confusion and fear among students and teachers. The administration's stance heightens the town's paranoia.

An assembly is held in memory of Terrence Horowitz, and the Glee Club mutates on stage into a vicious gang called The Cretins. The new group begins terrorizing Tromaville, signaling a broader threat beyond the school. The mutated performers set the tone for the town-wide danger.

The Cretins carry out a series of brutal acts, including blowing up a car full of people and tossing a teacher and her dog off Tromaville Falls. They also target Lauren, culminating in the gruesome act of shoving Lauren's pet duck Kevin down her throat. The town descends into fear as the mutating gang extends its reach.

Chrissy pulls the mutating Kevin from Lauren's throat and helps her recover from the earlier assault. She invites Lauren to a party at Slater's house, hoping to deepen their bond amidst the chaos.

Eugene breaks up with Chrissy over text during the party. Lauren and Chrissy grow closer and have sex in Slater's bedroom as Lauren begins to mutate. Chrissy urges them to come out to the rest of the school, but Lauren fears bullying and decides to stay in the closet. The Cretins crash the party and burn Slater's house.

That night, Lauren and Chrissy mutate again and march to The Cretins' lair, killing several of the gang members. Zac tries to join The Cretins, but they tell him he must exact revenge on Chrissy and Lauren to be accepted.

The mutations fade by the next day, and Chrissy and Lauren share a kiss. Chrissy learns that Herzkauf has captured Tromaville High students and is keeping them in cages. Zac films Chrissy and Lauren's reunion, capturing the moment on camera.

In science class, Chrissy gets into a fight with a Cretin after being called a homophobic slur. She accidentally blinds her teacher, Mr. Chip, with a laser and is soon sent to the principal's office. The incident underscores the chaos spilling into the classrooms.

While showering in the Tromaville High locker room, green slime oozes down Lauren's leg, foreshadowing further mutations to come. The moment underscores the persistent toxic influence of the taco plot and the town's strange biology.
