In Mikkeli, VALA's vaccine is pushed as a breakthrough despite lacking proper testing. The scheme is revealed to be a front for Pekka Erola's criminal organization, which uses the vaccine to mask its crimes. The revelation sets the stage for Rendel's emergence.

A mysterious figure in black begins to strike VALA and its men. Six victims are found with the name 'Rendel' etched on their bodies, signaling a warning from the avenger. Rotikka notices the pattern and becomes determined to uncover the truth.

In a Father's Day flashback, Rämö receives a biker jacket from his wife and daughter. He refuses to invest in a VALA worker named Kurikka, triggering pressure from his bosses. The resulting fallout strains his finances and career.

Kurikka reports the incident to his boss, forcing Rämö to be fired. His employer succumbs to the pressure and terminates his employment, fueling his financial hardship. This creates the motive for Rämö to seek work at VALA.

Under pressure and needing income, Rämö takes a filing job at VALA. While sorting paperwork, he discovers the vaccine's real nature—untested, tainted, and linked to deaths. He faces a moral crossroads as his conscience clashes with his new role.

Erola sends Rotikka and Lahtaaja to remove Rämö and his family. His wife and daughter are killed in the assault, and Rämö is beaten with a barbed-wire bat and left for dead. He survives, the trauma driving him to hide his injuries.

Rämö survives and retreats to his cellar where he hides a tar canister. He coats his face with tar and dons the biker jacket, transforming into Rendel, the avenger sworn to enforce his own brand of order.

A mysterious woman named Marla appears at need, offering assistance to Rendel. She aids him in planning encounters and fighting when his resolve is tested.

Erola escalates the war by hiring foreign mercenaries — Mike, Radek, Stacy, Julia, and Jimmy — to kill Rendel. The squad overwhelms him initially, and Julia is killed in the early clashes.

Local reporter Niina Heikkinen plans to expose VALA's crimes to the public. Rotikka kidnaps Niina after she photographs their deeds, prompting Rendel to intervene.

Rendel arrives to rescue Niina, moving through the city to take down the mercenaries one by one. He uses a mix of physical skill and improvised tactics to neutralize the threat. The battles test his resolve and mark the turning of the tide.

In the climactic battle, Rendel confronts Lahtaaja. Marla's aid is revealed as a hallucination from Rendel's psyche, underscoring his isolation. He fatally wounds Lahtaaja with the barbed-wire bat.

Rotikka shoots his own father, cementing his loyalty to the organization. He then confronts Rendel in the rain and is trapped with car trunk in his hands. Rendel injects Rotikka with the vaccine canister, killing him.

Rendel meets Niina in the city and walks away as the higher-ups vow revenge. The shadow war continues to loom over Mikkeli, leaving the city on edge and hinting at ongoing complications for Rendel.
