Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein

The film opens with Madhav 'Maddy' Shastri narrating his carefree life as the son of a music shop owner. His father Deendayal hopes Maddy will someday take over the family business, but Maddy shows little interest. The tone establishes a rivalry with his college rival Sam.

Maddy clashes with Rajeev 'Sam' Samra at college, culminating in an attempt to frame Sam. The professors intervene before a fight can break out. Their enmity hints at a long-standing grudge.

At Sam's graduation party, Maddy tries to provoke him again, but Sam refuses to engage. The encounter ends with a warning that one day Sam will settle the score. The rivalry leaves both men wary of each other's moves.

Three years pass; Maddy is a software instructor at a private company, still carefree. While in Delhi, he notices a young woman dancing in the rain with children and is instantly smitten, calling her 'my kinda girl' without knowing her name. This encounter sets the stage for his pursuit.

Maddy later crosses paths with Reena Malhotra at a wedding where he learns she is about to be engaged to Rajeev. Reena has not seen Rajeev in years and doesn’t know what he looks like now. Maddy resolves to win her heart.

Pressured by friends and family to act, Maddy impersonates Rajeev until the real one arrives. Over five magical days, he shows affection and sincerity, and their friendship blooms into love. Reena begins to fall for him.

The real Rajeev arrives, revealing he is actually Sam, Maddy's old rival. Sam is furious about the deception and refuses to trust Maddy's intentions. Reena feels betrayed even as she confronts her own feelings.

Maddy tries to explain himself to Reena, but she remains unwilling to forgive him as her wedding to Rajeev approaches. The love triangle reaches a breaking point as trust collapses.

Maddy and his friends decide to beat up Rajeev in a parking lot to reclaim Reena, but Maddy quickly gives up and lets Rajeev go back to Reena. This moment marks a turning point as he chooses restraint over revenge.

Reena begins to recognize that, despite the deception, she has truly started falling in love with Maddy. Sam does not realize this until the wedding, adding tension to the final days before the ceremony.

To erase memories of Reena and start anew, Maddy accepts a job transfer to San Francisco. The move represents his attempt to move on from the heartbreak and the past rivalry.

At the airport, Rajeev escorts Reena and reveals heartbreak; he declares that 'we can never be friends' as he departs. Reena and Maddy embrace, admitting their love and choosing a future together.
