Plot Summary
Portia Merryman, a lady lawyer, defends Elizabeth Manners, accused of shooting lover Earle Condon. Portia once loved Earle, but his father, publisher John Condon, separated them. She knows Elizabeth’s motive, having nearly killed Earle herself when his father took custody of her son. Portia begins a romance with Dan Foster, the prosecutor.
