In 1998 former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet travels to Britain for medical treatment. Amnesty International seizes the opportunity to hold him accountable for numerous human‑rights abuses. The newly elected Labour government initially cooperates, placing Pinochet under house arrest in a leafy suburb while extradition to Spain is arranged. However, Amnesty must navigate complex British law, the shifting stance of Home Secretary Jack Straw, the influence of former ally Margaret Thatcher, and Pinochet’s own considerable cunning.
