Paul Schäfer, a German preacher, fled in 1961 with followers to Chile and founded Colonia Dignidad south of Santiago; it became a site of labor, violence and abuse; after Pinochet’s 1973 coup he allied with Manuel Contreras, turning it into a torture centre. The series uses archives and testimony to trace five decades of perpetrators and victims.
