Seeing Godo's exceptional abilities, the dictatorial candidate Rock assigns him a mission to capture the mystical Phoenix. The aim is to heal Earth with the Phoenix's blood, though Rock's true motive is political immortality. Godo grasps the moral cost of the assignment.

Godo's forbidden romance with Rena, daughter of Lord Eat, becomes a political offense. As punishment, he loses his citizenship and is sent to a labour camp in Iceland where the Mantle-energy project runs, threatening the planet’s stability. He confronts heartbreak as his future dims.
