Mandy Chin, aided by his girlfriend Lily and partner Gold Finger Chi, cheats at a poker game in Lau Yiu-cho's casino. The deception at the card tables secures him a HK$6 million win. Lau's men react with anger and plot retaliation that frames the rest of the story.

Lau's henchmen ambush Mandy and Chi after the casino game. A dangerous car chase ensues as they attempt to escape, and Mandy's daring crash triggers a massive explosion. The escape demonstrates Mandy's willingness to risk everything.

Mandy and Chi arrive at a disco bar where Chung Cho-hung tries to seduce Lily. After Mandy humiliates Chung, they fight off several of his subordinates and chase him through the club, finally cornering him in an elevator and beating him.

Mandy and Chi return home to find Lau and Mona holding Lily hostage, while Pau, Lau's top henchman, breaks Chi's leg. The brutal confrontation escalates the personal stakes for Mandy. This assault cements Lau's willingness to use violence against those close to Mandy.

Lau forces Mandy to enter prison and interrogate his former subordinate, Robinson Shun, who stole HK$300 million in treasury bonds. He promises Mandy HK$10 million if the bonds are located within a month. The deal binds Mandy to a dangerous undercover mission behind bars.

Lily reports Mandy for sexual harassment, but lack of evidence keeps the case from moving forward. In a desperate maneuver, Mandy throws his shoe at the judge, obtaining a one-month sentence for contempt of court and assault. The sentence drops him into the next phase of the plan.

Inside prison, Mandy bribes inmates Kei, Big Eye Kwong, and Crazy Bill to protect him from threats. Dinosaur, Lau's henchman, tries to assault Robinson Shun in the shower, but Mandy stops him. Dinosaur later breaks Robinson's leg, heightening the peril for everyone.

In the prison hospital, Robinson reveals Lau is his son-in-law who betrayed him and killed his daughter. Mandy experiences a moral shift, and Dinosaur warns that time is running out and Chi will be in danger if he delays. Robinson urges Mandy to take Lau down and promises to hand over the treasury bonds if he succeeds.

Knowing the bonds are hidden in Lau's villa, Mandy offers Chung HK$30 million to help him woo Mona. The risky alliance is meant to break into Lau's home and reveal the bonds. The plan hinges on manipulation and bold moves.

Mandy disguises a prison escape by hiding in the car of a Catholic social worker and heads to Lau's villa to search for the bonds. Inside, Chung is with Mona in the bedroom, while Mandy discovers Chi's dead body on arrival. Lau catches Chung and has him arrested for home intrusion and indecent exposure.

That night, a riot erupts in the prison cafeteria after Robinson tackles Dinosaur. Mandy and Chung fight Pau and manage to escape from prison with Robinson amidst the confusion. Outside, they regroup and prepare for the next phase of their plan.

Robinson tells Chung that the treasury bonds are hidden in the pillow on Lau's wife's bed, the very pillow Chung had used. Chung reaches Lau's villa to confront Mandy and Robinson, knocking them out to seize the bonds. The scene is tense as loyalties collide and the plan teeters on failure.

Chung arrives at the engagement party at Lau's villa and is confronted by Lau. Mandy arrives with a gun and shoots Lau, ending his grip on the operation. Lily's involvement helps lure Mona into danger, and Lau is eventually arrested.

Robinson retrieves the hidden bonds from a lizard cage and the trio sneaks back into prison dressed as paramedics. Mandy is acquitted of the sexual harassment charge and hands Chung the HK$30 million check, redeemable in 1997. The bonds are deposited in a Swiss bank to generate interest, while Mandy plans to travel the world with Lily for four years.
