The “bad boys of magic” push the limits in a role‑switching comedy murder‑mystery set amid Atlantic City casinos. In a TV interview Penn jokes, “I wish someone were trying to kill me—it would be like James Bond.” Twenty‑million viewers hear him, and one takes the punchline literally. Written by the crew that once called Psycho a comedy, the film stars Caitlin Clarke as a femme fatale and David Patrick Kelly as a Poe‑esque lunatic on a new mission. Director Arthur Penn, known for Bonnie and Clyde, delivers roller‑coaster pacing and subversive intelligence.
