Patch Town

Jon, an overweight factory worker, lives in a bleak housing bloc called Patch Town, alongside his strong-willed wife, Mary. In this structured environment, none of the residents have children or memories of their past, making their existence monotonous and dreary.

One night, while preparing a baby doll for shipment, Jon witnesses a fellow worker being punished for attempting to steal a magical cabbage. This unsettling scene reveals the harsh realities of their factory life and catches the attention of Yuri, the factory owner.

After witnessing the brutal punishment, Jon confesses to Mary that he has stolen a magical cabbage. This cabbage magically produces a living baby, whom they name Daisy, igniting their hopes for a brighter future.

Jon and Mary watch in horror as another couple, who also took a cabbage, are confronted by Yuri and his henchman, Kenny. The couple is forcibly taken away, and their cabbage baby is cruelly discarded into a dumpster, illustrating the dangers of defiance in Patch Town.

Determined to flee Patch Town with Mary and Daisy, Jon seeks assistance from Darryl, a black-market smuggler. Darryl reveals the shocking truth about Jon's origins, exposing the reality that they are all adult versions of former doll selves.

Darryl shares a haunting story of Yuri's father, who discovered magical cabbages and unintentionally brought dolls to life. After his father's death, Yuri exploited this gift for control rather than compassion, shaping the oppressive environment of Patch Town.

In hopes of finding his 'mother', Jon, with Mary and Daisy, are smuggled out of Patch Town by Sly, a former employee. Using a food delivery truck disguised as a hippie van, they make their way to Toronto for a fresh start.

While Jon and his family are escaping, Yuri uses brutal interrogation methods to extract information from Darryl and a female bar worker. His violent tactics underscore his ruthless hold over the workers and his desperation to maintain control.

At a shopping mall, Jon, now working as Santa Claus, spots Bethany pleading for the safe return of her daughter, Avery, on a TV screen. This moment reignites Jon's determination to connect with his past and save Avery from Yuri's grasp.

After receiving tips from a helpful gay couple, Jon and Sly are mistakenly arrested by the RCMP, identified as kidnappers. In a stroke of luck, Bethany devises a plan to secure their release in exchange for their help in rescuing her daughter.

As tensions rise between Jon and Mary, they eventually join forces with Sly to rescue Avery. Their shared goal of liberating themselves and the other oppressed workers of Patch Town unites them in their mission.

Bethany finds herself captured by Kenny while trying to find Avery, forcing her to fake romantic interest in Yuri to buy time. Meanwhile, Jon and Mary plan their infiltration into the factory to confront the source of their plight.

Inside the factory, Jon confronts Yuri and discovers his vulnerability. Yuri expresses his desire for a family, leading to a moment of compassion from Jon, who reminds Yuri of the family he already has among his employees.

In an act of defiance, Jon and his fellow employees use the electroshock therapy machine against Yuri, aiming to erase his memories. This moment symbolizes a turning point, as they strike back against their oppressor.

With Avery rescued, Bethany thanks Jon and returns to Toronto with her daughter. Jon, choosing to stay behind, looks forward to a new life with Mary and Daisy in Patch Town, suggesting a glimmer of hope amidst the struggle.
