15-year-old Jack Parker is popular at school and enjoys an easy home life. He has a high chance of winning a scholarship that would land him the batboy job for the Boston Red Sox, but everything rides on a web of lies. As the day begins, the weight of those lies starts shaping his world.

During a school speech, Mikey—the fake student Parker claimed to tutor—appears unexpectedly, claiming to be the kid from Parker's lies. The crowd and Parker are confused by the coincidence. This encounter marks the first crack in Parker's fabrications.

One by one, Parker's lies start to materialize in real life, beginning with two angry lumberjacks confronting him. The surreal confrontation upends his day and forces him to confront the consequences of his deception. The incident signals that his stories are no longer pretend.

From Arizona, Lisa emerges as a possessive, jealous girlfriend who tries to sabotage Parker's attempt to woo Jennifer. Her meddling disrupts Parker's plans and heightens the stakes of his lies. Parker realizes his social life is crumbling under the weight of falsehoods.
