Outlander

A spacecraft crashes into a lake during the Vendel era in Scandinavia, marking the beginning of a tumultuous series of events. The only occupant, a humanoid alien, escapes the wreckage to discover his surroundings and retrieve a distress beacon.

Upon retrieving a computer, the alien learns he is on Earth, an abandoned colony of his people. The computer downloads the local Norse language and cultural information directly into his brain, giving him the ability to communicate.

Exploring the vicinity, the alien finds a recently destroyed village, hinting at prior conflict in the area. This sets the stage for the unraveling mysteries and the arrival of more characters.

Kainan, the soldier from the spacecraft, emerges from the wreckage only to be captured by Viking warrior Wulfric. Taken to a local village ruled by King Rothgar, his identity as an outsider raises suspicion among the villagers.

Freya, the daughter of King Rothgar, defies expectations by refusing to marry Wulfric, fearing he will be a tyrant like his father. This establishes her as a strong character with her own desires and predictions of future conflict.

King Rothgar grows concerned that Gunnar, the chieftain of the rival village, will blame Wulfric for the destruction. As the atmosphere thickens with tension, the stage is set for an impending confrontation.

The village is suddenly attacked at night by an unseen creature, resulting in the deaths of several men. Kainan identifies the creature as a Moorwen, a predatory entity responsible for both his crash and the destruction of the nearby village.

Kainan proves his worth by killing a massive bear that had been terrorizing the hunting party, earning the respect and acceptance of the Vikings. His reputation begins to shift as the villagers start to regard him as one of their own.

Kainan forms an alliance with the Viking warriors as they confront the looming threat of the Moorwen. Despite initial doubts, Kainan's knowledge about the creature begins to win him allies within the village.

King Gunnar launches an assault on Kainan's village, only to be repelled by the defenders. The retreating enemies led into the woods see the Moorwen strike, leaving them no choice but to seek refuge with Kainan’s village.

Freya grows increasingly attracted to Kainan, and through shared stories, she learns about the tragic history of the Moorwen and Kainan's past. This personal connection deepens as they plan to confront the monster together.

A plan is devised to destroy the Moorwen using Kainan's advanced knowledge and resources. They prepare a trap by creating a pit filled with whale oil, signaling a united front against the creature.

The brave efforts to trap the Moorwen lead to unexpected losses, including the death of King Hrothgar. The emotional toll weighs heavily on the remaining villagers as they consider their next steps.

Kainan and the Vikings descend into the caves to confront the Moorwen, facing overwhelming odds. After a fierce struggle, they manage to finally defeat the creature, ensuring the safety of the village at a great cost.

With the Moorwen defeated, Kainan chooses to stay on Earth instead of returning to his people. He accepts the kingship from the dying Wulfric, marries Freya, and commits to leading the tribe in a new era.
