In the gripping prologue, a young Ivorian man named Rolex navigates the bustling streets of Abidjan while carrying a goat on his back. His journey brings him to an apartment building, where he is in search of a man named Papa Sanou.

The narrative transitions to the French Massif Central, where we meet Alice Farange, an insurance agent visiting a solitary sheep farmer named Joseph Bonnefille. Their interaction begins with business discussions that soon foster an unexpected intimacy between them.

After her visit to Joseph's farm, Alice returns to her family cattle farm, where she lives with her husband Michel and her father. Here, she learns of an incoming blizzard and a report regarding the disappearance of a local woman named Evelyne Ducat.

The following day, local policeman Cédric Vigier visits the Farange household to inquire about Evelyne Ducat's disappearance. Despite his probing questions, Alice and Michel remain tight-lipped about information they have, adding to the tension in their household.
