The covert unit is created in Norway, led by Arne Treholt, based at Gressholmen and answering directly to King Olav V. The squad trains for precision, secrecy, and loyalty during the Cold War. The opening establishes the team's identity and mission.

A Russian submarine incident in Swedish fjords prompts the Ninja Force to search the area; anti-submarine rockets are fired in error. Treholt confronts Otto Meyer of Stay Behind and seizes a field manual, revealing interference in their operations. King Olav's visit underscores the tension between official authority and Stay Behind influence.

Following the confrontation, King Olav orders a new initiative, Operation Saga Night, to reshape their covert warfare. Treholt begins aligning the team around the new plan and his own rising ambitions. Bumblebee becomes a central figure in this evolving leadership dynamic.

The orienteering race to determine who earns a full designation pits Black Pete against Bumblebee. Pete sabotages Bumblebee, and Treholt removes Pete from the Ninja Force, ensuring Bumblebee wins by default. Treholt then and Olav share wisdom with Bumblebee, deepening the team’s internal rivalries.

Oslo Central Station bombing occurs, the CIA blaming Russians. Treholt travels to Vienna to verify evidence of Stay Behind's involvement, meeting with KGB members. Returning, he faces Meyer’s intensified threats of exposure, building a web of tension around his loyalty.

Bumblebee reveals he had served time in jail as a conscientious objector before joining Treholt’s squad, adding a personal layer to their mission. This confession deepens trust within the Ninja Force and hints at the costs of their covert work.

Stay Behind targets the Alexander Kielland oil rig, forcing the Ninja Force to rush to halt the threat. They locate the bomb, confront the saboteur, but the rig is nonetheless destroyed, showing the enemy’s reach and their own limits.

The Ninja Force returns to Gressholmen as Stay Behind escalates with aerial bombardment and ground assault. Black Pete secretly helps bypass island defenses, and Treholt orders Bumblebee to disguise himself as Treholt and be arrested to buy time.

The team retreats to Ragnhild’s workshop in the Lofoten mountains, where Black Pete reappears with Stay Behind’s operational plans. This gives them an edge and sets up a stealth infiltration of their enemies’ structures.

In a daring sequence, the Ninja Force infiltrates the royal palace, neutralizes a Stay Behind death squad posing as the King’s guards, and redirects a Piper Pawnee flight away from Oslo City Hall. The operation demonstrates the team’s improvisation and audacity.

Police are dispatched to Meyer’s home to seize the weapons stash, while Treholt and allies aim to eliminate other Stay Behind leaders. In a climactic confrontation high above Oslo City Hall, Meyer tries to plant a bomb; Treholt retrieves a shuriken concealing a listening device, knocks Meyer off the building, and foils the plot.

Bumblebee, still disguised as Treholt, reflects on Treholt’s plan for freedom and the path he walked, reaching a moment of enlightenment. The Ninja Force and King Olav celebrate their hard-won victory with a feast and a photograph under banners reading Mission Accomplished, underscoring the fragile peace they achieved.
