Non-Stop New York

On New Year's Eve 1938 in New York, lawyer Billy Cooper notices a hungry showgirl, Jennie Carr, examining other diners' plates. He offers to buy her a meal, but since the restaurant has run out of food, he invites her to his apartment instead. En route, Abel, an unemployed man, sneaks in for a chicken leg and hides when he hears the others arriving.

As Cooper and Jennie arrive, Hugo Brant and his gang burst in, forcing Jennie to leave. Cooper admits he's quitting his job, which angers Brant, who then shoots him dead. Brant orders Jennie to be sent abroad and frames her for theft to cover up the murder.

Jennie is imprisoned after being framed, and Abel, accused of Cooper's murder, is tried and sentenced to death. She is convinced that she can exonerate Abel, but she is unaware that the woman who could help is also in prison.

Brant and his associate Mortimer travel to England to handle Jennie. After her release from prison, Jennie is introduced to a priest, Mr. Mortimer, and learns about Abel's execution, prompting her to seek justice despite warnings from Mortimer.

Jennie visits Scotland Yard with hopes of clearing Abel, but she encounters other women claiming to be the witness. Inspector Jim Grant becomes suspicious of her, especially when Mortimer discredits her story, increasing the complexity of the case.

Disguised as 'General Costello', Brant receives news about the investigation, while Spurgeon, a messenger, collects torn-up documents to blackmail him. Spurgeon later informs Inspector Grant that Pryor, a blackmailer, plans to fly to New York, setting up a new threat.

With time running out before Abel's execution and lacking funds, Jennie secretly stows away on the 'Lisbon Clipper', a transatlantic flight. She finds Grant's empty compartment and decides to stay aboard as the plane departs for Europe, with Grant deciding to pay her fare later.

Blackmailer Pryor attempts to extort from Costello, who bluff him into leaving. Pryor then uncovers Jennie's connection to Grant and tries to involve her, leading to a dinner confrontation where Costello remains unfazed by the accusations and blackmail threats.

Late at night, Costello lures Jennie onto the balcony intending to push her off. Pryor watches this, and Costello demands a large ransom from him. Instead of giving money, Costello shoots Pryor dead, revealing his murderous intent in the cramped airplane setting.

Costello attempts to kill Jennie by strangulation, but Grant busts in to find her in peril. Amidst chaos, Costello escapes by parachute after shooting the pilot and locking himself in the cockpit. Grant fights to regain control of the aircraft, ultimately succeeding just in time.

As the plane lands, Arnold, a young saxophonist and witness to Costello's murder, reveals he used part of a parachute to muffle his saxophone, unintentionally aiding in Costello's capture. The authorities close in on the villain as justice is restored.
