Countess Elisabeth Bathory is a centuries-old vampire queen who was executed centuries ago for murdering young women and allegedly bathing in their blood. She is revived through a hypnotic ritual and returns as the film's primary antagonist, commanding vampiric forces to terrorize the region.

Karen is one of the traveling college girls who stays at the castle and forms a doomed romance with Waldemar Daninsky. Their forbidden love becomes the emotional center of the film, driving both the action and the tragic conclusion.
