Present day at St. Mary's College, Ben Rutherford inherits a strange mechanical box called Le Vaudou Mort from his deceased father. The box carries a dangerous legacy and the potential to unleash revenge. Ben’s new possession pulls his circle of friends toward a deadly mystery.

That night, Ben shows Le Vaudou Mort to his friends: Ryan, Mary, Kandi, Isabel, Nelson, and Jed. The moment is light, but tensions simmer as each person reacts to the box’s odd presence. The group begins to project hopes and curiosities onto the mysterious object.

The next morning, the box has vanished from sight. Ben questions Mary, who denies taking it, while suspicion drifts through the group. The disappearance marks the start of a perilous chain of events tied to the box.

Nelson and Ryan consult Archaeology Professor Banyon, who explains that Le Vaudou Mort was used as a theatre prop and isn’t a genuine relic. She warns that it may be more dangerous than they think and promises to alert them if new information surfaces. The box’s true nature begins to surface as a potential instrument of revenge.

That night, the school lights explode as an unseen attacker targets Ryan. A wax figure of him is pulled from Le Vaudou Mort and mutilated with heated needles, foreshadowing the brutal method of the ensuing killings. The attack leaves Ryan mortally wounded and the campus in terror.

The following day, the police identify Ryan's body and Ben learns of the brutal act. Marcus Rutherford, Ben’s brother and a crime-scene photographer, confirms the identity and begins to piece together the pattern of killings tied to the box. The danger feels personal for the Rutherford family.

That next night, Nelson’s wax figure is decimated and his body is dismembered in a gruesome display. The killer escalates the violence, showing that the box’s revenge mechanism targets multiple friends in rapid succession. Fear tightens its grip on Ben and his peers.

A wake is held at Isabel's house for the victims. During the gathering, Professor Banyon calls Ben and introduces Dr. Halmanay, who explains that Le Vaudou Mort functions as a revenge device. The group starts linking the deaths to someone with a deep personal motive tied to a past betrayal.

Marcus and Ben go to Professor Banyon's office and discover her dead. They uncover that Le Vaudou Mort’s killings are a revenge mechanism and learn their father Samuel Rutherford stole the box from Robert Shaw ten years earlier. The revelation reframes the threat as a family vendetta rather than a random haunting.

Returning to Isabel's house to warn their friends, they find Isabel murdered. Later, Jed is found dead with a slit mouth, and Kandi is revealed as the killer, orchestrating the murders to torment Ben and his family. The scope of the revenge becomes personal and brutal.

In the climactic confrontation, Kandi—Robert Shaw’s daughter—admits she orchestrated the killings as revenge for her father's death. Mary fights back, frees herself, and cuts Kandi's face in the Le Vaudou Mort’s wax figure. Kandi dies amid the memories of her friends’ deaths, ending the immediate threat.

One month later, Ben and Marcus reconcile and decide to end the cycle of violence once and for all. They throw Le Vaudou Mort into the ocean from Marcus's boat, hoping to prevent any future victims and to honor those who died.
