My Santa

Jack and Chris arrive in a small California town, each hoping to land the role that would make Christmas magical. Chris hints at needing a wife, and Jack wonders why he would pick a sleepy town instead of a big city. Their arrival signals the start of a plan to fill the mall with a charismatic Santa.

The men unload props for one of them to be the mall Santa. Jack claims the right body type and a sturdy, gray-haired look, while Chris hints he could do the job. They plan to have photographers capture the kids and share proceeds with the mall owner.

The mall manager initially says he can't afford a Santa this year, dampening the plan. Jack and Chris insist the store won't owe money; they'll be paid through a portion of the photo sales. Reluctantly, the manager agrees to let Chris play Santa.

Jen Robbins writes sentimental pieces for the local newspaper but longs to cover bigger stories. She works beside Gertrude, whose long-running society column colors the newsroom, and editor Martin presses for a meaningful Christmas feature. Jen struggles to find the right angle.

Sam is introduced as the new crime reporter, disappointed by what counts as crime in a small town and by the closure of his former paper. He crosses paths with Jen and brings a different energy and potential romance to the newsroom. The contrast between their ambitions sets up tension and chemistry.

At the office Christmas party, Martin reveals his late wife’s death and announces his relationship with Gertrude. The reveal adds emotional weight and complicates the town’s Christmas mood as Jen observes the evolving relationships around her. Jen wonders whether love can survive in a small town during the holidays.

On the night before Christmas, Jen puts Eric to bed while Chris takes him home and they share a night at a skating rink. A flashback reveals Paul leaving Jen after Christmas and the ornament he broke—the last gift from her mother—creating an emotional undercurrent. Chris reads the moment like a map of Jen’s heart.

Two boxes appear under the tree: Maxim Mike for Eric and the ornament Paul broke years ago. Jen realizes Chris is who he says he is and may be her future partner. She heads toward the mall where she finds Chris and Jack before they drive away, and she accepts him with a kiss, saying yes to a future together.
