Oliveira structures the film in three parts: an opening stage play, a silent‑film‑like segment with Beckett readings, and a return to the avant‑garde material. A joke is retold three times, each fresh, evolving into a verbatim adaptation of the biblical Book of Job, underscoring how hard it is to empathise with others’ suffering while in one’s own.
