Following World War II, Marta, a single mother engaged to an older farmer, develops an unexpected bond with Lorenzo, the village’s openly gay “wedding planner.” Set in conservative rural Southern Italy, Lorenzo introduces Marta to a discreet community, prompting her to question deeply ingrained prejudices. As Italy grants women suffrage, Marta confronts her evolving identity, challenging societal norms and ultimately discovering her place in a rapidly changing world.
