In 1992, Kim Bok-dong bravely came forward to share her experiences as a victim of sexual slavery during World War II, often referred to as "comfort women." She sought an official apology from the Japanese government, but her claims were initially denied. Years later, in 2011, to mark the 1000th Wednesday demonstration, a "Statue of Peace" was erected near the Japanese Embassy. This event signified a new chapter in the ongoing struggle for recognition and accountability.
