Ronnie Jackson works as a baby photographer but dreams of being a gumshoe. The eccentric baroness Dottie mistakes him for a private eye and hires him to find her missing husband, Baron Montay. His mishaps lead to a bizarre trial, and days later he finds himself on death row, passing the time by narrating the absurd chain of events to a press corps.
