In the not-too-distant future, a die-hard doomsday prepper named Marcus King has spent years tracking every variable that could threaten civilization. He, along with his son Geoff King, watches the skies and discovers a massive, planet-threatening meteor racing toward Earth, with a likely collision course for a nuclear reactor. Time is short, and Marcus quickly mobilizes a small, tightly trained group. Most manage to reach a former missile silo turned into a bunker before impact, including Geoff and his daughter Melissa King, but neither her boyfriend Caden nor Marcus himself make it into the shelter.

Ten years pass inside the bunker, where life has settled into a fragile rhythm. Food and medicine dwindle, tensions rise, and a rattle outside the walls disrupts the power supply.
