Manjardo, a young Romani chieftain, enjoys a vibrant life with his two companions, Glafira and the spirited Akris. He is soon to marry Esmeralda, the daughter of the chief of a neighboring tribe. The transition unsettles his current partners, who feel as indifferent toward the union as the two families, setting the stage for a tense encounter between the two groups.
