Aathi and Meera are college students who first meet in a bar and get into a playful clash over a silly reason. As their stories unfold, they end up at a village with friends, where a chance encounter at a local festival reveals a spark between them. [Meera] dazzles in traditional attire, and when a trio of goons harasses her with lights reflecting off her sari, [Aathi] steps in and drives them away, an act that quickly deepens the bond between them. From that moment, [Meera] begins to see [Aathi] as someone who can protect her, and the feeling between them grows with each passing scene.

Meanwhile, a web of misunderstandings and family pressures starts to pull at their budding connection. [Aathi] learns that his friend who is about to be married in three days was secretly in love with someone else, and that the wedding has become a financial bargain for his father to settle debts with a wealthy family. Around the same time, [Meera] discovers that her best friend is in love with a guy of her own. One night, a mix-up at the home of the friend’s lover leads to both of them misreading the situation: [Meera] is mistaken for her friend’s lover, and [Aathi] is mistaken for his best friend’s lover. The confusion is cleared the next day when they are introduced as each other’s best friends, which lights up their understanding of their own hearts.

Determined to be together, they hatch a plan to elope and register their marriage, a step they manage with mutual support and a shared belief in their love. Upon returning to their homes, they realize their feelings have only grown stronger, and to their surprise their houses sit side by side. [Aathi] tries to tell [Meera] about his love, but she initially brushes it off, only to reveal later that she loves him too. The mood intensifies with the meaningful moment of En Ragasiya Kanavugal, a song that underscores their connection and longing. [Aathi] goes to [Meera]’s house and finds her speaking to a friend about him, reaffirming their bond with another ripple of romance.

Yet the pressures of life intrude when his father arranges a marriage for him with a businessman’s daughter to settle debt. The couple faces a painful separation as [Meera] mourns, but she makes clear she is not willing to enter that arranged union. In a decisive final gesture blessed by those around them, [Aathi] ties the nuptial thread around [Meera]’s neck on the wedding stage, and she accepts the union with happiness, sealing their commitment before their families and communities.
