Richard Haywood and Justin Pendleton, two former high school classmates, devise an elaborate scheme to execute what they believe to be the perfect crime. They meticulously plan the details of their plot, focusing on how to successfully execute the abduction and murder of an unsuspecting woman.

The duo's plan culminates in the actual abduction and murder of their victim. They manipulate the situation to ensure that Richard's drug dealer, Ray Feathers, will be framed for the crime, planting evidence to divert suspicion away from themselves.

Detective Cassie Mayweather is called to investigate the murder case along with her new partner, Sam Kennedy. As they start uncovering the evidence, Cassie's personal biases lead her to suspect Richard as the main perpetrator, while viewing Justin as an accomplice.
