The film chronicles the life of Franz Anton Mesmer, an 18‑century Viennese physician whose controversial practice of “animal magnetism” promised cures through unseen forces. Seen as a charlatan by some and a visionary by others, his work sparked heated debate and paved the way for modern concepts of hypnosis.
